Dower
Lake Recreational Area
Two miles west of Staples on US Highway 10, then one mile south,
reservations available, ASA accessible, softball fields, beach,
boating/camping, changing rooms, drinking water, grills, horseshoe
pits, lake or pond, picnic area, playground, restrooms, shelter/pavilion,
trails, two sand volleyball courts, one of a kind 600' fishing
pier, police patrolled.
Winter Sports
The Staples-Motley Area abounds with outdoor activities throughout
the winter. There are hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails
within
the area. These trails lead to the cities of Staples, Aldrich,
Motley, Leader, Pillager and the Lincoln Lakes Area. Ice fishing
is another popular sport. The many lakes in the area provide
a variety of opportunities for winter fishing. The many miles
of
forest are a favorite area for cross country skiing and snow
shoeing where one can enjoy the peace and tranquility.
Old Wah De Nah Rendezvous
(2nd weekend In August)
The Rendezvous, held the second weekend of every August, typically
offers fur-trader encampments, Native American cultural demonstrations,
story telling, history tours, a refreshment booth, and more. Primitive
camping is available in the 230-acre park, located on the Crow
Wing River Canoe Trail, just minutes north of Staples. Motels

Lincoln Lakes Area
Just south of Motley you will find the Lincoln Lakes Area. This
is a beautiful group of lakes with wooded and hilly shores, bays
and islands and some of the greatest fishing in Minnesota. The
Lincoln Lakes Area offers camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling,
cross country skiin, dining, and sightseeing–just to name
a few. You are sure to enjoy yourself.
Canoeing
and more River Fun
The Crow Wing River once carried the canoes of Native Americans
and fur traders. Today it is a favorite of canoeists, anglers,
bird-watchers and other outdoor enthusiasts. The Crow Wing is
a river with a lively current and clear water. There are many
campsites along the river for overnight trips.
The Motley Rodeo
Since its inception in 1998, the Motley Rodeo has existed first
and foremost to promote America's greatest tradition, rodeo. The
Motley Rodeo has become one of the most anticipated events in
central Minnesota during the summer months.
Living Legacy Gardens
The Living Legacy Garden is a public garden established in 2000
at the Central Lakes College Ag Center. The park-like setting
of the garden also provides a serene spot to relax and enjoy the
beauty of nature.

Fireworks, Parade, Chili Cook-off, Classic car show, street dance
and more.
